Analysts Hail Prime Minister Shehbaz’s Timely Visit to Malaysia

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit Malaysia, a key member of the ASEAN regional organization, amid strengthening ties between the two nations. Historically, Pakistan and Malaysia have enjoyed a close relationship, bolstered by a significant diaspora and increasing bilateral trade. Notably, there has been a 25% increase in bilateral trade in the current fiscal year compared to 2023. The visit, initiated at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, aims to further enhance cooperation in both political and economic sectors.

According to Radio Pakistan, the visit is considered crucial for boosting bilateral trade in the future. The burgeoning potential of Halal foods in the Malaysian and Indonesian markets presents a significant opportunity for Pakistan to expand its exports in this sector. Additionally, both countries are engaged in discussions to enhance cooperation in policy and strategic areas, which could further solidify their partnership.
