Muzaffarabad: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, along with a delegation, visited Basnar Camp in Muzaffarabad. The visit was organized in connection with the upcoming Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5 and the death anniversary of Shaheed Afzal Guru on February 9.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the delegation comprised Munir Ahmed Konshe, Zubair Durrani, and Commander Haider Kashmiri. During the visit, Butt addressed the gathering, highlighting the ongoing issues faced by the people in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Butt stated that Indian forces are engaging in acts of violence against unarmed Kashmiris who are continuing their struggle for freedom. He described the situation in the region as complex, attributing it to India’s efforts in altering the population demographics by settling non-Kashmiris in the area.
He expressed concern over the alleged killing of innocent Kashmiri youth in staged encounters by Indian forces. He also mentioned the imprisonment of individuals who voice opposition to Indian actions through what he described as fabricated charges.
Butt also pointed out the stringent restrictions on media in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that India has exacerbated the living conditions for Kashmiris. He called upon the youth to participate in the upcoming Martyrs Conference scheduled for February 5 and February 9, commemorating Kashmir Solidarity Day and the martyrdom anniversary of Afzal Guru, respectively.
