Srinagar: Leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) have declared that oppressive actions by Indian forces, including killings, arrests, and tortures, will not suppress the Kashmiri quest for self-determination. The APHC reaffirmed the commitment of the Kashmiri people to continue their struggle for their rights, as recognized by the United Nations.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Adv Abdul Rashid Minhas, highlighted recent events in Srinagar, including the killing of three students in what he described as a “fake encounter” by Indian troops in the Keeri area of Baramulla district. Minhas called for a United Nations investigation into these killings and voiced strong condemnation of the continued house arrest of senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, along with the illegal detention of other Hurriyat leadership and youths in various prisons.
The spokesman emphasized the legitimacy of the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination, stating that despite the challenges, the movement will be pursued until its rightful conclusion. Minhas criticized the BJP and its affiliates in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) for trying to discredit the Kashmiri freedom movement by equating it with terrorism and dismissing it as mere political maneuvering around elections.
He further argued that the international community has a duty to support the Kashmiri cause and uphold its commitment to facilitating a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir, allowing the people to exercise their right to self-determination.
