APHC Calls for End to Extra-Judicial Killings in Kashmir, Urges UN Action

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced serious concerns over the ongoing cordon and search operations, arbitrary arrests, and extra-judicial killings of Kashmiri youth by Indian forces in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The APHC has called for international intervention to address the escalating human rights abuses.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Adv Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement from Srinagar, condemned the frequent abductions of Kashmiri youth during these operations, where they are often detained under the Public Safety Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Minhas noted that such detentions frequently lead to extra-judicial killings, with recent incidents reported in Baramulla, Kulgam, Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Kathua, and Leh.

The APHC reiterated the legitimacy of the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination and called for a peaceful, democratic resolution to the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions. Minhas also appealed to the UN and international human rights organizations to pressure India to release all Kashmiri political detainees, including Hurriyat leaders and activists.
