APHC, others express grief over death and destruction caused by earthquake in Turkiye and Syria 

Srinagar, February 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other organizations as well as Kashmiri representative organizations across the world have expressed grief and sorrow over the massive death and destruction caused by the devastating earthquake in Turkiye and Syria. Senior APHC leader, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar in a statement in Srinagar said Kashmiris are shocked over the loss of precious lives and property and express heartfelt condolence with grief stricken families and pray for the quick recovery of the injured.

He said that the people and government of Turkiye provided generous support to the 2005 earthquake victims of Azad Kashmir and played a vital role for the rehabilitation in devastated areas. He appealed to people to help the earthquake victims in Turkiye and Syria in the hour of distress. He said Turkiye is a true friend and benefactor of Kashmiris as it has always supported their just struggle for the right to self-determination.

Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) Jammu and Kashmir, and amalgam of social and religious organizations and headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement in Srinagar on behalf of the people of IIOJK expressed deep condolence and sympathy with the people of Turkiye and Syria. It prayed for speedy recovery of the injured. The MMU announced that on Friday special prayer meetings will be held in Jamia Masjid Srinagar and all other major mosques, shrines and Imambargahs for the people who died in the earthquake. APHC-AJK leader, Muhammad Sultan Butt, in a statement in Islamabad expressed shock over the loss of precious lives and property in Turkiye and Syria. He appealed to the Muslim Ummah to come forward to help the victims of this devastating calamity.

Kashmiri representative organizations, World Kashmir Awareness Forum, Washington, DC; Kashmir Civitas, Canada; Kashmir House, Turkey; Kashmir Global Campaign, UK; World Kashmir Freedom Movement, UK; and Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK and EU held condolence meetings for those died in the devastating earthquake in Turkiye and Syria. The participants of these meetings said the Kashmiris share the pain and sorrow of the Turkish as well as Syrian people in this hour of grief.

Kashmiris all over the world will never forget the efforts of the Honourable President Recap Tayyip Erdogan, and the Turkish government, to end the long-standing illegal occupation of our homeland by Indian occupation forces, they said. In this hour of grief, Kashmiris are mobilizing their resources to extend as much help as possible to their Turkish and Syrian brothers and sisters, they added.
