Army actions deflated ceasefire hoax

Srinagar, May 30, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that the vandalism of residential houses and fruit orchards by the Indian troops in Shopian has deflated the balloon of India’s recent ceasefire hoax.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar pointed out that India and its stooges had waged a war on the people of the occupied territory, while the recent announcement of ceasefire was just a ploy to hoodwink the international community. He said that Indian army’s action at Sugan in Shopian in which they barged into houses, chopped off fruit trees and looted valuables vindicated their stand the people of Kashmir were reeling under martial-law like situation.

The residents of Sugan village of Shopian told media that they were living in a state of constant fear as an army raj was prevailing in the area where people were harassed on daily basis. Interestingly, Deputy Commissioner Shopian Gazanffer Ali, while talking to media expressed helplessness of civil administration saying that the troops were enjoying impunity under black law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq during an Awami Action Committee meeting in Srinagar finalized programmes in connection with the death anniversary of Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah. The chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza visited the residence of martyr Bilal Ahmad Ganie in Pulwama to express solidarity with the bereaved family..

Meanwhile, people staged forceful demonstrations in Drabgam area of Pulwama district, today, against the desecration and vandalism of the grave of a martyred youth, Sameer Ahmed Butt alias Sameer Tiger, by the Indian troops. Later, a sit-in protest was staged outside DC Office to demand stern action against the troops.

Indian police re-arrested Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, and her associates, Nahida Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi after a Srinagar court ordered their immediate release. The Dukhtaran-e-Millat in a statement condemned the re-arrest of the party leaders.

In Washington, the US State Department’s International Religious Freedom Report 2017 has criticized Indian authorities for not registering cases against attacks by Hindu “cow vigilantes” on Muslims in India and Jammu and Kashmir. The report made a mention of an attack by Hindu fanatics on Muslim family in Reasi area of Jammu and Kashmir on 25th April, which left at least seven people injured.
