Rawalpindi: Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir addressed the significance of unity between the armed forces and the citizens of Pakistan in thwarting the attempts of external forces to destabilize the country during a ceremony for Defence and Martyrs Day at the GHQ.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, General Munir highlighted the continuous efforts and sacrifices made by the military and public in combating terrorism. He commended the martyrs and veterans for their roles in the ongoing struggle against militancy, emphasizing that the fight would persist until terrorism is completely eradicated from Pakistan.
General Munir also acknowledged the longstanding battle against the Fitna al-Khawarij, a conflict spanning over two decades, where the nation has made substantial sacrifices leading to enhanced security and stability. He outlined key initiatives like Paigham-e-Pakistan, the effective management of the western border, and development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan as crucial to these efforts.
Additionally, the Army Chief addressed the disinformation campaigns aimed at creating divisions between the armed forces and the Pakistani populace, reaffirming the unified resolve to overcome these challenges. He also touched on regional issues, condemning the ongoing oppression in Jammu and Kashmir and the aggressive actions in Gaza, while reiterating Pakistan’s support for the affected communities.
