Asian Development Bank and Punjab Government Discuss Infrastructure and Development Cooperation

Lahore: Dr. Emma Xiaoqin Fan, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the Pakistan Resident Mission, held a meeting with Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to discuss enhancing cooperation in various sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, health, education, environmental protection, and digital development. The meeting also addressed the Jalalpur Irrigation Project and clean energy initiatives.

According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the discussions acknowledged the ADB’s support for Punjab’s projects, emphasizing the importance of their cooperation for the region’s socio-economic development. Dr. Emma Xiaoqin Fan commended the Punjab government’s initiatives in women empowerment and public welfare. Chief Minister Sharif highlighted the role of ADB’s collaboration in aiding economic restoration and expressed aspirations for further strengthening development objectives in Punjab under a comprehensive plan.

Dr. Zhaochenfan stated the ADB’s intent to expand its cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in Punjab, citing the province’s climate policy as beneficial for both the environment and the economy.
