Karachi: Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), has been elected as the Vice President of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) for the 2024-2026 term during the 38th CACCI Conference in Singapore. In addition, he has been appointed as the Head of the Budget Commission of CACCI. This organization is one of the world’s most influential trade alliances, consisting of 27 countries.
According to Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Sheikh has extended an invitation to CACCI member countries to hold their conference in Pakistan in December 2025, which has been accepted. This event is expected to hold international significance for Pakistan in terms of trade and economic growth.
Mr. Sheikh emphasized the importance of CACCI, stating that Pakistan is prepared to play a proactive role in multilateral trade politics and advocacy, aligning with the government’s vision to boost the country’s exports.
The FPCCI Chief highlighted that the collective GDP of CACCI member countries amounts to trillions of dollars, making CACCI crucial for Pakistan in various aspects of economic cooperation, including trade, investments, joint ventures, tourism, business-to-business linkages, chamber-to-chamber cooperation, and bilateral economic cooperation with the member countries.
Mr. Sheikh participated as a panelist in the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum’s session on “The Future of Trade: Digitalization, E-commerce, and Cross-Border Collaboration,” organized by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation in collaboration with CACCI during the 38th CACCI Conference 2024. He discussed the future of trade and commerce, Pakistan’s e-commerce growth, the emerging e-commerce industry, and its potential for economic development through digitalization.
He urged CACCI members to establish a strong geo-economic alliance between Asia-Pacific and South Asia to explore emerging and untapped multilateral trade opportunities.
Mr. Sheikh’s election as VP of CACCI signifies a national achievement in trade, investment, and economic diplomacy, receiving recognition from government officials, business leaders, and diplomats.
