Balochistan Chief Minister Outlines Financial Reforms for Public Universities

Quetta: During a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti addressed key financial and administrative reforms for public sector universities. The meeting, which included top officials and vice chancellors, aimed to resolve the ongoing financial crisis affecting higher education in the region.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Chief Minister Bugti announced plans for new legislation regarding contract policies and emphasized that no new construction projects would be initiated at universities due to financial constraints. He ordered the immediate release of overdue salaries and pensions for university staff, underscoring that timely payment was a fundamental right.

The Chief Minister also expressed concerns over unnecessary staff recruitments at universities and directed that staffing levels be adjusted to more sustainable numbers. The focus was on enhancing financial management within universities to avoid unnecessary expenditures, particularly in new recruitments and construction projects. Mir Sarfraz Bugti reiterated his commitment to the development of education by reallocating resources from other development projects, stressing that these funds would be contingent on the implementation of an effective accountability process and improved educational outcomes.
