Balochistan Governor Mandates Enhanced Support for Special Persons

Quetta: Governor of Balochistan, Jafar Khan Mandokhel, has issued directives to enforce employment quotas for special persons rigorously, introduce the “Himmat Card” similar to Punjab’s model, and mandate that relevant government offices be accessible on the first floor of government buildings.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Governor Mandokhel expressed these directives during his address at the World Protection Ambassador’s Stick event on October 15. He remarked on the societal progress that now views the term ‘disabled’ as inappropriate for those with physical impairments, suggesting that a greater tragedy than physical disability is the lack of vision or insight. He noted that individuals with physical impairments often develop heightened abilities in their other senses, leading to greater optimism and activity.

The event was attended by Social Welfare Secretary Shujaat Ali Khosa, Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Aurangzeb, President of Fauzia Shaheen Pakistan Association of Blind Ghulam Dastgir, and many others from various sectors. Governor Mandokhel highlighted the advancements in science and technology that enable visually impaired persons to excel in education and other fields, citing Stephen Hawking as an example of overcoming physical limitations through intellectual and emotional strength.

In conclusion, Governor Mandokhel announced a donation of Rs 200,000 to the Pakistan Anjuman-e-Blind Provincial Branch Balochistan, reinforcing his commitment to supporting special persons in the region.
