Srinagar, November 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and other Hurriyet leaders have condemned the imposition of continued ban on Muharram processions in the territory.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Javaid Ahmed Mir and Farida Behenji in their statements in Srinagar termed the action as interference in religious affairs of the Muslims. They said that the puppet authorities facilitated the Amarnath Yatra by the Hindu pilgrims but did not allow the Muslims to perform their religious obligations by imposing restrictions on Muharram processions and Juma and Eid gatherings. Several people were injured when Indian police and troops used brute force on Muharram processions in different areas of Srinagar.

The authorities invoked the black law, Public Safety Act, against the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement leader, Shakeel Ahmed Butt, shifting him from Srinagar’s Maharajganj Police Station to Udhampur jail.

The Hurriyet Conference Jammu and Kashmir, the Islamic Political Party Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement and Hurriyet leaders, Muhammad Musaddiq Aadil and Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, in their statements strongly denounced the arrest of Hurriyet leaders and activists in the territory.

During the first week of November in 1947, hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were killed by the forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian army and Hindu extremists in different parts of Jammu region while they were migrating to Pakistan.

In Brussels, the Chairman of Kashmir Council European Union, Ali Raza Syed, in a statement said that India would never succeed to suppress the Kashmiris’ liberation movement, which had been nourished by the sacrifices of the people.
