Islamabad: Belarus has declared its intention to invest in various agricultural projects in Pakistan, marking a significant step in bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the commitment was formalized during a meeting in Islamabad between a high-level Belarusian delegation and Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti, President of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL). The Belarusian delegation was led by Vadim Shagoiko, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, and Sergei Stolyarchuk, Chairman of the Bank of Development of Belarus.
During the discussions, President Bhatti highlighted ZTBL’s recent achievements under the Prime Minister Kissan Package, which includes the disbursement of thirty-three billion rupees in agricultural loans to small and subsistence farmers and over ten billion rupees allocated for farm mechanization. The Belarusian representatives shared insights into their country’s agricultural sector and expressed a strong interest in investing in multiple projects across Pakistan.
The meeting underscored the mutual interest in further collaboration, particularly in introducing Belarusian agricultural machinery to enhance the productivity of Pakistani farmers.
