Islamabad:Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with Dr. Brendan Nelson, President of Boeing Global, during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions between the two focused on modernizing PIA’s fleet and broader cooperation in Pakistan’s aviation sector. Boeing confirmed that a revised proposal for acquiring new aircraft would be presented to PIA, with potential for earlier delivery slots and interim leasing arrangements under consideration.
The conversation also explored financing support through the US Export-Import Bank, engine procurement, spare parts, and the maintenance and restoration of grounded aircraft. The Finance Minister highlighted plans for the privatization of PIA and outsourcing the management of major airports.
Furthermore, the Finance Minister expressed appreciation for Boeing’s support in enhancing aviation safety, regulatory engagement, and the restoration of direct flights to the United States, emphasizing Pakistan’s robust long-term aviation growth potential.
