Ms. Jane Marriott CMG OBE, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, met with Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, to discuss economic reforms and financial cooperation between the two nations. The meeting, held at the Finance Division, focused on maintaining macroeconomic stability and fostering export-led growth.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, Finance Minister Aurangzeb provided an overview of Pakistan’s economic landscape and the government’s reform agenda. He emphasized the commitment to fiscal discipline and sustainable growth, while appreciating the UK’s support through development and governance programmes.
Ms. Marriott reiterated the UK’s commitment to strengthening bilateral economic ties and emphasized collaboration in public financial management and revenue mobilization. She highlighted the REMIT Programme, aimed at enhancing revenue mobilization and transparency in Pakistan.
The Finance Minister recognized the programme’s contributions and stressed the importance of continued technical assistance. Both parties agreed to enhance economic cooperation and explore new collaboration opportunities.
