Brunei and Germany Discuss ASEAN-EU Relations and Bilateral Cooperation

Berlin: His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received His Excellency Dr. Johann Wadephul, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, in an audience ceremony held in Berlin. His Majesty shared that Brunei, as the current Country Coordinator for ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations, is positively considering Germany’s request to become an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner. He expressed satisfaction with Brunei Darussalam hosting the 25th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting last month, which reinforced the strategic direction of the partnership. His Majesty also expressed hope that Germany could continue supporting ASEAN’s climate agenda, particularly through the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty and His Excellency discussed matters of mutual interest and looked forward to enhancing bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and Germany. The discussions included potential cooperation in areas such as security, defence, education, energy, agriculture, and Information Technology.
