Business Leaders’ Commitment to Sustainable Development Highlighted in Meeting with PM’s Climate Aide.

Islamabad: Coordinator to Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, emphasized the government’s commitment to collaborating with stakeholders, including countries and NGOs, to achieve sustainable development goals. During a meeting with a delegation from Yuanhe Holdings and the Green and Low-Carbon Committee of the Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation (SIEF), she highlighted the importance of engaging with partners possessing technical expertise in implementing the UN’s sustainable development goals. The meeting was held at the climate change and environmental coordination ministry, with Dr. Ma Chengliang leading the SIEF delegation.

According to Press Information Department, both parties expressed their commitment to collaborating on sustainable development in Pakistan, focusing on areas such as environment, climate change, disaster risk reduction, poverty reduction, and gender development. SIEF, a global nonprofit organization headquartered in Beijing, connects business leaders from China, Europe, Australasia, Arab regions, and Africa through platforms like the Sino-European Entrepreneurs Summit and the China-Africa Investment Forum.

Romina Khurshid Alam stressed the importance of collaboration across various sectors to address global challenges like climate change, poverty, and inequality. She stated that effective collaboration can leverage resources and expertise to tackle complex issues. Inclusivity in development was also emphasized, ensuring marginalized communities are part of decision-making processes.

She further highlighted the crucial role of technology and innovation in achieving sustainable development goals, noting that collaboration between the tech sector, research institutions, and governments can accelerate sustainable technology development. Dr. Ma Chengliang praised the government’s vision for an environmentally sustainable Pakistan and recognized the growing importance of integrating sustainability into business operations. He expressed hope for fruitful collaboration with Pakistan’s business community to address socio-economic and environmental challenges, while also unlocking new business opportunities.
