Cabinet Approves 15 Percent Increase in EOBI Pensions

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over the recent positive trends in macroeconomic indicators. Chairing a meeting of the Federal Cabinet in Islamabad, he reiterated his government’s focus on performance and service delivery, announcing that the performance of ministries would be evaluated every two months. Ministries performing well will be appreciated, while those falling short will be held accountable and asked to explain.

According to Radio Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif also addressed disaster preparedness amid the ongoing monsoon season, commending the efforts of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for making arrangements to cope with heavy rains across the country. Additionally, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of Muharram processions, highlighting it as a message of unity, solidarity, and brotherhood.

In a significant development, the cabinet approved a fifteen percent increase in pensions provided by the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI). Further, on the recommendation of the Ministry of National Health Services, the cabinet granted a five-year extension of exemption on the import of anti-cancer, cardiac, and life-saving drugs used in hospitals and related healthcare institutions.
