Cabinet Approves Amendments to Military Acts to Align with Constitutional Changes

Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet has approved amendments to the Pakistan Army Act, Pakistan Air Force Act, and Pakistan Navy Act. This decision was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Parliament House.

According to Radio Pakistan, the amendments aim to align the laws concerning Pakistan’s Armed Forces with the Twenty-seventh Constitutional Amendment. The changes follow revisions made in Article 243 of the Constitution, leading to necessary legislation, including adjustments to the tenure of the Chief of Defence Forces.

A significant change introduced by these amendments is the abolition of the post of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee following the retirement of the current Chairman. Additionally, the ranks of Field Marshal, Marshal of the Air Force, and Admiral of the Fleet have now been incorporated into these laws.

In another development, the Cabinet also approved the draft of the Federal Constitutional Court (Procedure and Practice) Act, 2025.
