Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Essential and Cash Crops in Islamabad today. The meeting reviewed the overall situation of key cash crops, with a special focus on the challenges facing cotton production.
According to Radio Pakistan, the participants of the meeting discussed measures to enhance productivity, improve the supply chain, and strengthen research. They also emphasized greater representation of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) and other private sector stakeholders in the Pakistan Central Cotton Committee. This move aims to improve coordination between the public and private sectors for sustainable growth of the cotton crop and overall agricultural development.
Ishaq Dar directed the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to ensure effective implementation of the proposed reforms in close coordination with all stakeholders.
