Cambridge University Press and Assessment Signs MoU with Pakistan’s Education Ministry to Enhance School Curriculum

Islamabad: A delegation led by Mr. Rod Smith, Group Managing Director of International Education for Cambridge University Press and Assessment, visited the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. The agreement aims to introduce Cambridge qualifications in four federal government schools in Islamabad.

According to Press Information Department, the MoU establishes a cooperative framework between Cambridge and the Ministry to enhance educational standards by offering Cambridge Lower Secondary, IGCSE, and A-Level qualifications. The initiative targets Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-6/2; Islamabad Model College for Boys, G-6/3; Islamabad Model College for Boys, F-8/3; and Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-8/1. The goal is to provide international qualification pathways for students and foster a learner-centered approach.

Dr. Khalid emphasized the need for Cambridge to expand its role in Pakistan, particularly in enhancing assessment capabilities of local education boards. He highlighted the importance of transparency in assessment and increased engagement. Secretary Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani noted that the initiative will build capacity among teaching staff to effectively deliver the Cambridge curriculum, supporting students in accessing global opportunities for higher education and career development.
