Candlelight protest staged in New Delhi

Srinagar, February 08, 2014 (PPI-OT): In New Delhi, committee for the Release of Political Prisoners and Democratic Students Union organized a peaceful candlelight protest in Jawaharlal University in remembrance of prominent Kashmiri martyred leaders Mohammad Maqbool Butt and Mohammad Afzal Guru. The vigil led by Kashmiri professor Abdul Rehman Gilani which was attended by the Kashmiri students and other intellectuals and professors in the camps has demanded return of mortal remains of Mohammad Maqbool Butt and Mohammad Afzal Guru from Tihar Jail.

Professor Syed Abdul Rehman Gilani while talking to media men said Butt and Guru’s death was against humanity and justice, adding that he would continue to raise voice against the injustice. He urged the civil societies and peace-loving people to raise voice for return of mortal remains of the martyrs.

He called upon nuclear powers to resolve the Kashmir dispute as per the Kashmiris’ aspirations for ensuring peace and economic prosperity of the region .
