Celebrations Over PTI Chairman’s Bail Mislead Public: Khaleeq-uz-Zaman

Karachi: Celebrations regarding the bail granted to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman in a few cases related to the May 9 incidents have been described as misleading by Raja Khaleeq uz Zaman Ansari, the spokesperson for the government of Pakistan (Sindh).

According to Radio Pakistan, Raja Khaleeq uz Zaman Ansari stated that the PTI founder was caught in a significant 190-million-pound corruption case and was sentenced to fourteen years of imprisonment following a transparent judicial trial. He emphasized that the sentences awarded to the PTI founder remain in place.

The spokesperson clarified that granting bail does not equate to an acquittal. He mentioned that Shibli Faraz and other accused were also granted bail but were eventually sentenced to ten years of imprisonment each. He accused the counsel of the PTI founder and leaders of celebrating the bail to mislead the public, knowing well that the PTI founder would remain incarcerated despite the bail.

Raja Khaleeq uz Zaman Ansari highlighted that the Al-Qadir Trust case represents a major corruption scandal. He reminded the nation of the 190 million pounds paid as a penalty for the individual who allegedly gifted valuable land of Al Qadir University to the PTI founder and his family.

He further noted that PTI leaders began seeking pardon immediately after a recent interview by Suhail Warraich, where the Chief of Army Staff was reportedly quoted as saying that the PTI founder could be pardoned if he sought mercy. However, following a rebuttal by the ISPR today, the PTI leaders have been exposed.

The spokesperson concluded by asserting that the PTI leadership is attempting to deceive the public and undermine the judiciary’s verdicts. However, he expressed confidence that the nation is aware of these tactics and will not be misled by their propaganda.
