Chairman National Highway Authority appreciates efforts made by Defence Housing Authority team regarding Malir Motorway Project

Karachi, November 17, 2014 (PPI-OT): A detailed presentation on “Malir Motorway Project” was arranged by DHA Karachi in Ministry of Communication, Pak Secretariat Islamabad, which was attended by Chairman NHA/Secretary Communication Mr Shahid Ashraf Tarar, Administrator DHA Karachi Brig Zubair Ahmed and other senior officials.

It was a follow-up meeting in pursuance of Prime Minister’s principle approval of “Malir Motorway” announced at Governor House Karachi on 10 July 2014 in the presence of senior political and military leadership.

Malir Motorway when realized besides bringing DHA City from DHA Karachi at a distance of 20 minutes will also provide a shortest, secure and sustainable infrastructure ensuring socio economic uplift of Karachi. This project will have the capacity to facilitate secure, efficient and quick movement of people, goods and services from Karachi Port and Port Qasim to Super Highway (M-9).

Moreover, besides facilitating ports traffic, it will also provide sustained relief to perpetual traffic congestion problems of some of the main roads of Karachi. The motorway will act as strategic link for prompt movement of military troops in case of emergency.

Chairman NHA appreciated the efforts made by DHA team and asked for additional information for an early decision making. Next presentation by DHA on the project will be held in January 2015 at NHA Head Office Islamabad.
