Chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Meets with TikTok Delegation to Discuss Digital Safety and Engagement

Islamabad: Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Major General (R) Hafeez-ur-Rehman, recently engaged in a meeting with a TikTok delegation led by Mr. Emir Gelen, Head of Global Public Policy for the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, Pakistan, and South Asia (METAPSA). The discussions centered on digital engagement, content safety, and online protection.

According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the TikTok delegation, which included Mr. Fahad Khan Niazi, Ms. Sidra Jalil, Mr. Ilunga Mpyana, and Mr. Sohaib Khan, outlined plans for an initiative called the “Youth Safety Summit.” The summit aims to enhance online safety for youth, with a particular focus on child online protection.

During the meeting, both parties highlighted the importance of collaboration on awareness and training programs in schools. They underscored the need for a comprehensive approach to ensure a secure and inclusive digital environment in Pakistan.
