Chevron All Pakistan Defence Housing Authority Karachi Cup Open Golf Championship

Karachi, February 21, 2016 (PPI-OT): The Chevron All Pakistan DHA Karachi Cup Open Golf Championship 2016 played at Defence Authority Country and Golf Club from 18 Feb – 21 Feb’ 2016 finished here on Sunday evening. More than 200 golfers from all over the country including top names of national professional golf circuit participated in Rs. 1.8 million tournament. An impressive prize distribution ceremony was held at DHA Golf Club in which Administrator DHA Brig Zubair Ahmed was the chief guest.

The chief guest appreciated Defence Authority Country and Golf Club for promoting golfing activity in the country and for organizing a spectacular golf tournament in which a large number of golfers participated. He said that golfing was a lively activity that reflects healthy and positive trends in society. He said that promotion of mega tournaments like this would help in promotion of golf in the country.

Shabbir Iqbal captured the crown in Chevron DHA Karachi Cup All Pakistan Open Golf Championship 2016 with the score of 209. Shabbir Iqbal collected the trophy and cash purse of Rs. 2,17,455/=. Lt. Col (R) Zahid Iqbal of (DHA) won the Senior Amateurs event with score of 86.Ismail Hashim Ahmed of (DHA) finished second with the score of 88. In the ladies event Mrs Humera Khalid of (DHA) with score of 82 was winner gross while Miss Aania Farooq with score of 76 was winner net.

In veterans category Brig Abdul Islam was the winner gross from (KGC) scoring 41 while winner net was Wing Cdr Aftab Alam Khan with the score of 37. In Senior Masters category Adil Amin of DHA was the winner gross with the score of 43. Ammar Paracha from DHA was winner net with score of 30. ‘Hole in One’ was won by Ahmed Baig (LGC) in which Toyota Corolla Grande was sponsored by Toyota Central Motors. At the end the chief guest distributed trophies and prizes among the winners in various categories.
