Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Briefs National Security Workshop Participants on Punjab’s Progress

Lahore: The participants of the 26th National Security Workshop of the National Defense University convened with the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

According to Chief Minister of Punjab, during the two-hour briefing, Sharif highlighted the government’s performance, which received enthusiastic applause from the attendees. She emphasized that Punjab has made significant progress, transitioning from darkness to light.

Sharif addressed the current state of affairs in Punjab, asserting that the province is faring better than others. She noted that appointments are strictly merit-based, although challenges persist due to a lack of accountability across various departments. The Chief Minister expressed concerns over political instability impacting development and prosperity, stating that governments are often hindered in their efforts to work effectively.

Sharif outlined her priorities, emphasizing initiatives that positively affect the lives of Punjab’s 15 crore residents. She stressed the urgency of controlling smog and recognized the ongoing positive impacts of government initiatives. Addressing public health issues, she acknowledged the loss of life due to inadequate health facilities, aiming to transcend political affiliations to promote a unified national identity.

The Chief Minister also highlighted economic achievements, noting low inflation, growing foreign exchange reserves, record-breaking stock market performance, and rising IT exports. Sharif conveyed that increasing exports would reduce reliance on foreign aid, allowing Pakistan to maintain its dignity on the international stage.
