Lahore, May 23, 2018 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has visited Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) and reviewed progress on development works being carried out on the second phase of the project. He went to operation theatres and inquired after the patients in dialysis center. The patients thanked Shehbaz Sharif for constructing such a wonderful hospital. The Chief Minister presided over a meeting in the committee room of PKLI in which he was briefed about the progress on important matters for the transplant of kidney patients.

While addressing the meeting, he said that PKLI is a state-of-the-art institute of southern Asia and work has been done round-the-clock on it. Transplantation of kidney will soon be started, he added. He said the institute has emerged as a role model for others. Punjab government has spent billion of rupees for setting up such a splendid institute. He said that we all have to work as a team for the speedy completion of this important project. He said that matters pertaining to kidney transplantation should be settled immediately. Provincial Minister Kh. Salman Rafique, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Dr. Saeed Akhtar and others were also present on this occasion.

He disclosed that all matters regarding PKLI were discussed in the meeting. He said that PKLI is state-of-the-art institute where free of cost treatment facility will be available to deserving patients. He said that PKLI contains latest medical equipments and labs. He said that medical team is also very competent. He said that hundred percent free of cost treatment facility would be provided to such patients who could not afford liver and kidney transplant.

In response to a question, the Chief Minister said that time of nation has been wasted in sit-ins besides ruining the national economy; whereas we have worked round-the-clock to develop the province. He said that there is marked improvement in the health sector. He said that people are afraid of NAB’s rod and some of them have even stopped working. He said that NAB should play its due role and took action against the corruption but where good work is done, the same should also be appreciated. It is our national obligation, he added. NAB, Judiciary, establishment, parliament and other institutions should also appreciate the good work done. Pakistan will move forward if good work is appreciated.

If good work is not appreciated then Pakistan would not be able to move forward and difficulties would arise if the same treatment is mated out with all and sundry. To another question, he said that Pakistan has the necessary strength and capacity to compete with India in every field. Pakistan has proved its abilities in the field of defense and can give a befitting reply to India. India cannot see towards Pakistan with an evil eye. It is my conviction that if we become a united nation then Pakistan shall leave India behind in few years. He said that Punjab government has done a wonderful job in primary healthcare sector. We may not be equalizing Malaysia and Turkey but are nearer to them.

He said that first kidney transplantation will be carried out on May 28 hopefully and the transplantation of deserving patients will be performed totally free. He said that Punjab government has taken revolutionary steps in health sector and due to it; the healthcare sector has been totally transformed. On the other side, Imran Niazi did nothing during the last five years except engaging in falsehood, levelling allegations and mendacity. He has devastated KPK as no new institution is developed there and even the existing hospitals are not upgraded.

Earlier, Imran Niazi used to criticize Lahore metro bus and then Peshawar city has been dug in the name of metro bus. He said that PML-N adopted practical steps to overcome energy crisis and as a result, there is no gap in demand and supply of the electricity. We have ample electricity and load-shedding is minimal. He said that when provinces were allowed to generate electricity, Punjab fulfilled its duty amicably and thousands of megawatts capacity power projects have been set up with its own resources.

Sindh and KPK paid no attention to energy projects and people are facing serious crises of water, electricity and health there. He said that Zardari has devastated Karachi and whole of Sindh adding that people will reject the elements making false claims and promises in the next elections. He said that Pakistan will soon achieve a respectable position in the comity of nations and will compete with India in economic field. Replying to a question, the Chief Minister said that consultation is underway for the caretaker Chief Minister.
