Chief Secretary asks concerned authorities to remove offices of Government Departments and political parties illegally constructed in the parks

Karachi, August 15, 2018 (PPI-OT): Chief Secretary Sindh Major Rtd. Azam Suleman Khan presided an important meeting, which resolved to remove the encroachments from the all parks, marketing centre, and roads of Karachi City, under instructions from the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The meeting was briefed about the implementation status of the Supreme Court’s orders.

According to details the Chief Secretary asked the concerned authorities to remove the offices of Government Departments and political parties illegally constructed in the parks, with a report within two days to this effect. Chief Secretary ordered that illegal bill boards, marriage halls, and encroachments from the roads and footpaths of the commercial areas and markets should also be removed without further delay. He noted that the Empress Market, Taj Medical Centre, Auto Market on M.A. Jinnah Road (Bander Road) should also be cleared from the encroachments.

The Chief Secretary stressed the need to remove the encroachments in accordance with the rules and regulations, all institutions/agencies i.e. KMC, DMCs, Cantonment Board, SBCA and Anti-Encroachment Forces must play their vital role to eradicate this menace jointly, he added. Khan maintained that the Commissioner Karachi will perform his role as Focal Person, in this regard.

He also emphasized upon the BOR (Board of Revenue), KMC, Cantonment Boards and SBCA to re-examine the leases allowed by them, and check the status whether the Land allotted for the actual purpose for which the lease granter or, otherwise. He asked them to submit a report to this effect.

The meeting was attended by the SMBR, Secretary Local Govt., Commissioner Karachi, Additional IGP Karachi, Deputy Commissioners, DIGs and other senior officers. Encroachments from Parks and Garden i.e. Burns Garden, Jahangir Park, Aram Bagh, Baloch Park and Khori Garden, should also be removed, immediately, the Chief Secretary directed.
