Lahore: An 11-member delegation from China’s Xingjian province visited Pakistan following an invitation from the Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI). The delegation, led by the Mayor of Yecheang and Wang Xiangbing, Chairman of the Belt and Road International United Group, focused on exploring potential investments in renewable energy and the construction sector. Their visit included meetings at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Investment, and tours of historical sites.
According to Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the delegation’s interests align with the broader goals of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which aims to boost cooperation in solar energy and infrastructure development. Nazir Hussain, President of PCJCCI, highlighted China’s capability to assist Pakistan in achieving its solarization targets through innovative technology and favorable policies. The collaboration is expected to make solar energy more affordable and accessible in Pakistan.
Wang Xiangbing emphasized the CPEC’s role in enhancing Pakistan’s construction sector, indicating that frequent interactions between Chinese and Pakistani businessmen are aimed at addressing the increasing demand for construction solutions. The delegation encouraged Chinese entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities and joint ventures in Pakistan’s construction industry.
Zafar Iqbal, Vice President of PCJCCI, noted that introducing Chinese construction materials could transform Pakistan’s construction sector by making it more cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General of PCJCCI, reiterated the significance of the construction industry in Pakistan, which ranks as the second-largest sector after textiles and provides substantial employment opportunities.
