Climate Financing for Developing Nations Should Be Priority at COP 29, Says Sherry Rehman

Islamabad: Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Climate Change, Senator Sherry Rehman, emphasized the crucial role of development organizations in fostering climate resilience through adequate funding. She addressed these points during a pre-COP29 panel discussion at the Institute of Regional Studies.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Senator Rehman underscored the necessity for local climate action supported by strong international financing. Advocating for proactive measures in areas vulnerable to floods to mitigate climate impacts, she urged major emitters to fulfill their Internationally Determined Contributions. Senator Rehman stressed that climate financing for the Global South should focus on on-ground adaptation initiatives rather than merely reporting.
