CM Punjab Approves Free Ambulance Service for Deceased

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the launch of a free dead body transportation service across the province for the first time. The decision was made during a special meeting chaired by the Chief Minister in Lahore.

According to Radio Pakistan, Secretary Emergency Services, Dr. Rizwan Naseer, provided a briefing on the proposed plan during the meeting. The initiative aims to offer free ambulance services to transport deceased individuals from hospitals to their residences.

Each tehsil will have at least one van available for this purpose, ensuring that bereaved families can utilize the service by calling 1122 or through the hospital counter. The service will employ a smart management system to maintain transparency and efficiency. Additionally, the facility for transporting deceased individuals from one city to another will be offered free of charge.

The meeting also agreed in principle to regulate private ambulance services and considered a proposal to set their service charges.
