Commissioner PESSI Tours Faisalabad, Directs Improvements in Workers’ Social Security and Medical Facilities

Lahore: The Commissioner of Punjab Employees Social Security (PESSI) embarked on a comprehensive tour of the Faisalabad region, initiating direct measures to swiftly address the concerns of workers. The tour included detailed inspections of health facilities and meetings with labor representatives, aimed at enhancing the quality of social security services and infrastructure.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 04 September 2024, Commissioner Mohammad Ali was critical of the conditions found at the Peoples Colony Medical Center and immediately demanded repairs and improvements, including a new requirement for staff uniforms. He engaged with workers from the Kalash factory, who communicated their challenges directly to him. In response, he announced the creation of a complaint cell at PESSI’s head office to facilitate prompt resolution of workers’ grievances.

Throughout his visit, Commissioner Ali stressed the importance of maintaining high cleanliness and service standards in all medical and administrative facilities. He inaugurated new facilities such as a water filtration plant at Madina Town Hospital and an operating theater at Kalash Hospital. Recognizing the issue of patient overcrowding at Kalash Hospital, he ordered steps to be taken for its expansion.

The Commissioner also reviewed the availability of medicines, the attendance of medical staff, and the efficiency of service delivery, issuing instructions to enhance all aspects of operational management. His directives to field directors included ensuring full compliance with social security contributions and accelerating the issuance of social security cards to workers.

In alignment with the Plant for Pakistan campaign, Commissioner Ali participated in tree planting at hospital sites, reaffirming a commitment to a sustainable environmental future. He emphasized the non-negotiable standard of service in social security, underscoring ongoing personal involvement in monitoring and improvements. The presence of Medical Advisor Dr. Suhail Aziz, DG Headquarters Azhar Hussain Minhas, and other key officials underscored the significance of the tour and the initiatives announced.
