Complaint Filed Against Yogi Adityanath for Communal Remarks at Rally

New Delhi, The Law and Policy Research Institute (LPRI), based in Bengaluru, has filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his remarks during a rally in Palghar, Maharashtra, which targeted the Muslim community.

According to Kashmir Media Service, LPRI’s complaint demands an investigation and necessary actions against Yogi Adityanath for allegedly violating India’s secular ethos and endangering communal harmony with his inflammatory speech. During the rally, Adityanath boasted that Muslims no longer dare to perform namaz on the roads in Uttar Pradesh, and that mosques had been compelled to remove loudspeakers.

The institute cited violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (RPA), and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They argued that Adityanath’s statements not only breached legal norms but also fostered enmity between religious groups.

LPRI has urged the ECI to ensure that such rhetoric is not repeated, emphasizing the serious implications of such speeches on communal relations and public peace in India.
