D8 Can Be Reinvigorated Under New Secretary-General: DPM

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar today received Secretary-General designate of D-8 Ambassador Sohail Mahmood in Islamabad. Ambassador Sohail Mahmood apprised Ishaq Dar of his future plans, noting that he will be joining the D-8 Secretariat shortly. He affirmed his determination to carry forward the D-8 mission as envisioned by the D-8 leadership.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar wished him the best for his new assignment and also appreciated his contributions and role as former Foreign Secretary and DG ISSI. He further stressed that D-8 is a very viable organization and that, with Ambassador Sohail Mahmood as Secretary-General, it may be reinvigorated to enhance bilateral and multilateral relations among the member states.
