Dar Underlines Need for Climate-Smart Agriculture

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized the urgent need for climate-smart agriculture, calling for increased investment in research and improved coordination between the government, industry, and farmers. He made these remarks while chairing a meeting on the cotton crop in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting evaluated the impact of recent large-scale floods on cotton production, highlighting potential shortages and disruptions in the supply chain. Discussions centered on enhancing productivity, providing farmers with better inputs, and boosting exports as part of the Agricultural Transformation Plan.

Participants noted that challenges such as water scarcity, climate change, and issues with quality seeds, pesticides, and outdated technology demand immediate attention to safeguard agricultural output and sustainability.
