Deadline Set for Pakistani Parliamentarians to Submit Financial Statements by December 31

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a reminder to all members of the Parliament and Provincial Assemblies regarding the submission of their annual Statements of Assets and Liabilities. This submission, including details of their spouses and dependent children as of June 30, is required by December 31, 2024, under the Elections Act of 2017.

According to Press Information Department, this directive enforces Section 137 of the Elections Act, which mandates that every parliamentarian must provide these financial disclosures to the Commission by the year-end deadline. Failure to comply will result in the publication of their names on January 1, and subsequent suspension of membership starting January 16 if the statements are not submitted by January 15.

The Election Commission has made Form-B, necessary for this submission, available at no cost from its secretariat in Islamabad, the offices of Provincial Election Commissioners, the Senate Secretariat, the National Assembly Secretariat, and the Secretariats of the respective Provincial Assemblies. This form can also be downloaded from the ECP’s official website.
