Death Anniversary of Iconic Comedian Umer Sharif Marked

Karachi: The 4th death anniversary of legendary comedian, actor, writer, director, and host Umer Sharif was observed on Thursday. Born on 19th April 1955 in Karachi, Umer Sharif began his career as a stage performer in 1974 at the age of 19.

According to Radio Pakistan, Umer Sharif rose to fame with his iconic comedy stage plays “Bakra Qistoon Pey” and “Buddha Ghar Pey Hai.” In recognition of his contributions, he received National Awards for Best Director and Best Actor in 1992 and became the only actor to win four Nigar Awards in a single year. He was also honored with three Graduate Awards and the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan.

Umer Sharif passed away in Germany on this day in 2021 after a prolonged illness.
