Death Anniversary of Khatir Ghaznavi Observed

Peshawar: The 17th death anniversary of renowned Urdu and Hindko poet and writer, Khatir Ghaznavi, was observed on Monday. Khatir Ghaznavi, whose real name was Muhammad Ibrahim Baig, was born in 1925 in Peshawar. He made significant contributions to the literary world, particularly in Urdu and Hindko poetry and prose.

According to Radio Pakistan, Khatir Ghaznavi began his illustrious career at Radio Pakistan Peshawar. Throughout his life, he was closely associated with the literary community, contributing to journals such as “Sang-e-meel” and “Ehsaas.” His influence and dedication to literature were recognized in 1984 when he was appointed Director General of the Pakistan Academy of Letters.

In acknowledgment of his significant contributions to literature, the government of Pakistan honored Khatir Ghaznavi with the Presidential Pride of Performance award in 1999. His legacy continues to inspire many in the literary community.

Khatir Ghaznavi passed away on this day in 2008, leaving behind a rich legacy of literary works and contributions that continue to be celebrated.
