Death Anniversary of Maulana Hasrat Mohani Observed Across the Sub-Continent

Lahore: The 74th death anniversary of Maulana Hasrat Mohani, a prominent Urdu poet, journalist, politician, parliamentarian, and a fearless freedom fighter of the sub-continent, was observed on Tuesday. Known for his significant role in the struggle for independence, Mohani’s contributions continue to be celebrated and remembered across the region.

According to Radio Pakistan, Maulana Hasrat Mohani, whose real name was Syed Fazl-ul-Hasan, was an influential figure in the independence movement and faced several imprisonments for his efforts. He was particularly targeted by British authorities for promoting anti-British sentiments, notably through his publication, Urdu-e-Mualla, which featured an article that led to his incarceration.

In addition to his political activism, Maulana Hasrat Mohani made substantial contributions to Urdu literature. Among his literary works are notable publications such as Kulliyat-e-Hasrat, Sharh-e-Kalam-e-Ghalib, Nukaat-e-Sukhan, Tazkira-tul-Shuara, and Mushahidaat-e-Zindaan. These works continue to be studied and appreciated for their depth and insight into both literary and political realms.
