Death Anniversary of Playwright Mirza Adeeb Commemorated

islamabad: The 27th death anniversary of renowned playwright and short story writer Mirza Adeeb was observed on Friday. Mirza Adeeb, whose birth name was Dilawer Hussain Ali, made significant contributions to Urdu and Punjabi literature through his impactful plays and short stories.

According to Radio Pakistan, Mirza Adeeb’s literary works earned him six prestigious prizes and awards from the Pakistan Writers’ Guilds, highlighting his influence and dedication to the literary arts. In 1969, he was honored with the Presidential Award for playwriting, and in 1981, he received the Pride of Performance Award for literature. His acclaimed play, Pas-e Pardah, was awarded the Adamji Adabi Award, further cementing his legacy in the literary community.

Mirza Adeeb passed away on this day in 1999, leaving behind a rich legacy of literature that continues to inspire and resonate with readers and writers alike.
