Death Anniversary of Radio Pakistan’s First DG Zulfikar Ali Bukhari Observed

Karachi: The 51st death anniversary of renowned broadcaster, poet, and the first Director General of Radio Pakistan, Zulfikar Ali Bukhari, was observed today [Sunday]. Zulfikar Bukhari, who significantly contributed to Pakistan’s broadcasting landscape, was born in 1904 in Peshawar.

According to Radio Pakistan, Zulfikar Bukhari began his illustrious career with All India Radio. With the creation of Pakistan, he was appointed as the first Director General of Radio Pakistan, a role in which he played a pivotal part in shaping the national broadcasting service. After retiring from Radio Pakistan, Bukhari continued to influence the media landscape by becoming the first General Manager of Pakistan Television’s Karachi Centre in 1967.

In addition to his contributions to broadcasting, Bukhari was an accomplished author. He penned several books, including his renowned autobiography ‘Sarguzasht’ and a book on music titled ‘Jo Kuchh Main Ne Kaha’. His works continue to be appreciated for their insight into the early days of broadcasting in Pakistan.

Zulfikar Ali Bukhari passed away on this day in 1975 in Karachi, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire broadcasters and media professionals in Pakistan. His contributions were remembered with respect and admiration on his death anniversary.
