Islamabad: The eighteenth death anniversary of renowned Urdu poet, Ahmed Faraz, was observed on Tuesday.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ahmad Faraz was born on January 12, 1931, in Kohat, with the real name Syed Ahmad Shah. He began his career as a scriptwriter for Radio Pakistan in Peshawar and later joined Peshawar University as a lecturer.
Ahmad Faraz was a prominent member of the Progressive Writers Movement. His literary works include “Janaan Janaan,” “Tanha Tanha,” “Ghazal Bahana Karun,” and “Shab-e-Khoon.”
Throughout his illustrious career, Faraz was honored with numerous national and international awards, including the prestigious Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz. He passed away on this day in 2008.
