DG UNESCO Visits Pakistan to Strengthen Strategic Cooperation

Islamabad: Director General of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Dr. Khaled El-Enany, is in Islamabad on an official visit to Pakistan. He is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and senior government officials to discuss strategic cooperation between Pakistan and UNESCO across all areas of its mandate.

According to Radio Pakistan, this visit marks Dr. El-Enany’s first bilateral engagement since his election as UNESCO’s Director General in November of the previous year. During his visit, Dr. El-Enany toured the Taxila World Heritage Site, where he received a briefing on the historical significance of the ancient city. He also explored the archaeological sites of Bir Mound and Sirkap at Taxila.

The UNESCO Director General emphasized the importance of South-South cooperation and academic collaboration in the fields of archaeology and heritage preservation.
