Disbursements Under BISP to be Made Through Digital Wallets

Islamabad: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program Rubina Khalid has announced that disbursements under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) will transition to digital wallets starting from July this year. She addressed a news conference in Islamabad, highlighting this significant shift in the program’s payment mechanism.

According to Radio Pakistan, Rubina Khalid emphasized that over eight million women have been provided with free mobile SIMs to facilitate this transition. She stressed that transparency and accountability are top priorities for the Benazir Income Support Program. To ensure that only deserving individuals benefit, a re-certification system has been introduced.

The Chairperson noted that several countries have recognized and appreciated the Benazir Income Support Program, which is the largest social protection initiative in Pakistan. She added that over ten million families are currently benefiting from the Kafalat Program, while twelve million children are receiving scholarships under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif initiative.
