DPM Chairs Meeting on Resolving Challenges in E&P Sector

Islamabad: A meeting of the committee to finalize short, medium, and long-term actions to address challenges in the Exploration and Production (E and P) sector was convened in Islamabad today, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. The committee reviewed the progress made since its last meeting.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar expressed appreciation for the advancements in the digitization of the Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions (DGPC) workflows, a move expected to streamline business processes and enhance efficiency. The Deputy Prime Minister also commended the Petroleum Division for conducting offshore bid rounds in accordance with the committee’s earlier decisions.

The committee conveyed satisfaction with the awarding of 23 new offshore blocks and welcomed the participation of new entrants in the sector. Ishaq Dar further acknowledged the collaborative efforts that led to the resumption of the LPG plant. He also discussed initiatives within the sector, including the management of excess Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and the potential for ethanol blending into petrol, underscoring the government’s focus on growth and efficiency in the energy sector.
