Islamabad, January 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): The 121st meeting of the Board of Governors (BOG) of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) was held here Friday with Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar in the chair.

New members of the board Raja Liaqat Ali, Tariq Siddiqui, Syed Qamar Raza, Mian Munir Ahmed Khan Hans from Saudi Arabia, UK, USA, UK and UAE respectively were welcomed by the Chairman, Federal Minister Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar for joining BOG for the first time.

Minutes of the 120th meeting held in August 2012 were approved and new agenda items along with actionable points were discussed. Progress on housing schemes in Islamabad, Rawat and Lahore was reviewed. The Board appreciated the development work undertaken hitherto.

Chairman directed authorities concerned to speed up the work so as to hand over possession to maximum number of overseas Pakistanis who were waiting for the same since long.

BOG is the governing body of the OPF, which is authorized to make any decision regarding OPF and overseas Pakistanis related matters.

The Board comprises of Sheikh Salahuddin, MNA, Engineer Usman Khan Tarrakai, MNA, Syed Tayyab Husain, Ex-MNA, Federal Secretaries, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, Ministry of Finance/Financial Advisor (OPs), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Chairman, Federal Board of Revenue, Mr. Masud M. Khan, Denmark, Mr. Muhammad Asghar Qureshi, Saudi Arabia, Raja Liaqat Ali, UK, Mr. Tariq Siddiqui, USA, Mr. Tasneem Syed, Canada, Syed Qamar Raza, UK, Mr. Muhammad Akram Ayoub Choudhry, UK, Mian Munir Hans, Dubai and Engineer Shamshad Ali Siddiqui, Saudi Arabia.

Chairman and Federal Minister, Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar also appreciated the work done by the Foundation for the welfare of the overseas Pakistanis. The areas of housing schemes, educational institutions were main agenda items which were under consideration of the BOG.

It may be mentioned here that members of BOG are chosen from prominent overseas Pakistanis from all over the world with the approval of the Prime Minister.
