Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority chief for speedy completion of multi billion projects in Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot by end of 2015

Islamabad, December 30, 2014 (PPI-OT): Earthquake Reconstruction Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) Deputy Chairman directed project managers and contractors to complete multi billion mega projects in Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot by 30th December 2015.

In an extensive meeting with city development projects progress review meeting held at ERRA Headquarter today, Authority Deputy Chairman Maj. Gen. Muhammad Azeem Asif made it clear that no time extension will be granted for projects completion and directed all concerned to make practical arrangements for the competition of projects by 30th December 2015.

In the meeting Deputy Chairman express satisfaction about the projects completed by end of December 2014 and given approval for the next year working schedule of projects in Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot cities.

During the meeting project Director Muzaffarabad Riaz Noor apprised the meeting that 25 mega projects have been completed and 50 per cent of the Chinese loan amounting Rs 34 billion have been consumed. He vowed to complete rest of 25 projects by the end 2015.

About the Bagh city development schemes, Project Director Altaf Hussain said that out of 48 projects 10 have been completed. He added that two Bagh city water supply schemes have been completed which will cater the need of Bagh city inhabitant by 2030.

He said that in the entire city, road network has been completed with the cost of Rs. 500 million which has improved traffic flow for the road users. During the meeting he assured that by the end of 2015 Bagh city 38 remaining development projects will be done.

Deputy Chairman at the occasion appreciated and stressed the need to make utmost efforts to utilize all resources for the completion of ongoing projects. He told the meeting that in Bagh city International standard stadium have also been completed which will give great boost to sports activities in Bagh city sports lovers. He added that community center, circuit house and Para medical staff residential flat have also been completed and are in process of handing over.

Director General City Development ERRA Mr. Zafar Wahla said that total 10 mega projects have been completed in AJK while rest of 37 projects construction is on fast track basis in the city. He added that 12 more mega and small projects will be launched in couple of months.

He said that in Muzaffarabad city and its suburbs total 589 educational institutes have been completed while 365 are under construction. He said after the announcement of Prime Minister for construction of 1000 schools, 500 each in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and AJK construction are underway and ERRA determined to complete these by 2015 end.

In the meeting ERRA high officials, representatives of Chinese Construction Companies CXB, CWE Deputy programme Managers NESPAK Imran Taj and his team has also shared suggestions for early completion of projects in Azad Jammu and Kashmir earthquake affected areas.
