Elderly Man Killed in Road Accident in Qazigund, Kashmir

Srinagar: A tragic incident occurred in the Bonigam area of Qazigund in the Kulgam district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, where a 74-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle. The accident, which took place late last night, has raised concerns over road safety in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a local official reported that the elderly man, identified as Abdul Rashid Sheikh, son of Wali Mohammad Sheikh from Kupwara, sustained critical injuries from the collision. Despite prompt medical attention, Sheikh was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The incident underscores the ongoing issues related to vehicle safety and pedestrian protection in Kashmir, particularly in its more remote areas. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident as the community mourns the loss of one of its members.
