Election Commission of Pakistan Enforces Campaign Restrictions for PP-139 Sheikhupura-IV By-Election

Sheikhupura: The Election Commission of Pakistan has reminded candidates in the upcoming by-election for PP-139 Sheikhupura-IV of the legal restrictions on campaign activities as outlined in Section 182 of the Elections Act, 2017. The law prohibits public meetings and processions in the constituency during the 48 hours leading up to the conclusion of the poll, with violations punishable by up to two years of imprisonment or fines up to one hundred thousand rupees.

According to Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the campaign for the by-election will officially end at midnight between December 3 and 4, 2024. Political parties and candidates are urged to adhere to these legal requirements and demonstrate self-restraint to ensure an orderly and peaceful election process on December 5, 2024.
